Last updated Saturday August 11, 2007 10:17 PM Arse! Problems with
ISP again. Can't upload images...grr... : Okay everything is sorted: Channel tickets booked, van fixed, driver ready and waiting, gigs arranged, Lp out, T-shirts done, Newcastle top of the Premiership!
See you in Europe;
let the sun shine, the beer flow, and the music be fast, loud, and brutal
as a kick in the nuts from a bull elephant! All change on the gig front, we have now got a gig on the 16th and our gig on the 17th has now been cancelled. So if you can help us with a gig then drop us a line.Help!
Micky 05/08/07 Hi folks just a brief
update on the Jinn tour in August, so far we have: I have had a few problems with the website due to some changes at my ISP. Hopefully it's all sorted now. The Jinn tour is coming along nicely, we only need 1 more gig on the 16th of August, if you can help click here! The Jinn LP should be due out very soon, we hope to have copies for our gig with Municipal Waste at the Cluny
If you want to here
a couple of track from the LP click on one of the MySpace links below. Jinn are looking
for gigs in Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, France, Luxembourg 14th,15th,
16th, 17th and 18th of August 2007 Jinn are looking for gigs in Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, France, Luxembourg 14th,15th, 16th, 17th and 18th of August 2007 We have finally managed
to sort out our conflicting work commitments to play some gigs in Europe,
now all we need to do is to find some gigs!!! Micky 24/06/07 Updated the downloadin'
pages so that they now point towards the MySpace sites, and have done
a few bits and bobs of site maintenance.
Micky12/02/07 It has been a long time since I updated this page, but a lot has happened in our lives since last October. Jonathon's funeral was a sobering
experience; to find yourself attending the funeral of a young man who
had only recently become a father, makes you examine your own life as
much as the life of the dearly departed. A number of his friends adjourned to The Cluny to raise a glass in his memory, and talk of happier days. On the 18th of November Karin
and I became parents again and we now have another beautiful girl. That means that the various Ebola members have now produced two boys and three girls. Needless to say that since Amelie's birth, spare time has been at a premium; so updating the web site has not been top of the list of things to do when I get a spare moment! Christmas came and went, very
quickly, having spent all afternoon in Accident and Emergency after my
mother had a stroke following the main course! New Year was nicer with a visit from Ebola singer Nick and his partner, and Ebola driver, Cathy. We had a nice relaxing time and managed to put 2006 behind us. The year has started well and the rhythm of our household has now adapted to account for Amelie's presence. The sleep depravation has so far been minimal, and he says touching a large piece of wood, and signs are that Amelie will continue to sleep like a log! The mighty beast that is Jinn, finally roared back into life with our first practice since November 2006. We blew the cobwebs off and are getting ready to do some gigs in April to coincide with the release of our first ever solo LP. After two split Lp's and a split 10" we have finally found some people mad enough to put out a record by us in our own rite! SuperFi Records and also Right To Refuse Records are the people who need there heads looking at! The LP will be my first ever CD release after 24 years of playing in bands!!! There is talk of a limited vinyl press as well, which is great news for sad old gits like me who prefer the look and feel of an LP to a CD. As for Jinn, Ebola, One By One etc downloads, I have got so sick of messing around with putting songs up, only for ISP's to take them down again, I have bitten the bullet and there are now MySpace pages for all of the bands. Until I get round to updating all of the links the easiest way of navigating is via http://www.myspace.com/gibboncoredemoncouk Happy listening
Well it's been a
long time since I updated this but things have been a bit hectic in my
home life…UNDERSTATEMENT! Being an only child with an elderly parent
is bloody time consuming, especially when it all goes wrong! Twenty years ago today Generic (Sned, Terry, Wizz and myself) went into Desert Sounds in Low Fell to record the For a free and liberated South Africa 7" which launched Flat Earth. Dave, Sned, and I saved money out of our giro's and some money I had left of over from the job I'd not long finished, and Flat Earth was born Hi Folks Jinn are now a four piece. We have played three gigs as a four piece and now feel we have a much more full sound, though perhaps the new funk numbers may not be to everyones taste [joke]. Jinn will be imminently releasing a split 7” with Valhalla Pacifists on Pete's Fabric77 label. We will also be playing a few gigs after the turn of the year, and heading off into the studio to record a sack load of new songs. Ebola will release a discography CD next year on Flat Earth. Yes that's right, I said Flat Earth! No Sned is not going back on his promise, he's just looking to tie up all of the loose ends, and the Ebola CD is one. You should get everything, that we ever did, plus a few words of wisdom from those of us involved. I am very keen to get a hold of any old Ebola live photos you might have, and also any old One By One photos as there will also be a One By One discography CD, which will also hit the streets in 2006. It's going to be
a busy year, and it's still only November 2005! Hi folks just got back from sunny Belgium to rain soaked Britain. GREAT. Also returning to the news that our gig in Newcastle with Vitamin X was off, due the failure to find a venue. I wonder how long it will be before we actually have no venues in Newcastle willing to put on HC punk gigs and shows? On a more positive
note the new Scumville website is up and running and at it's heart is
an excellent date base of all the UK's DIY HC Punk bands, which includes
discography's, links to related bands etc etc... all you ever wanted to
know and so much more! http://www.sacredheart.co.uk/scumtest/index.php Okay folks it's been quite some time since this was updated. Jinn have already
played as many gigs this year as we did in all of last year, though with
the summer holiday season approaching no doubt that will slow down! Our long delayed 4th split LP should see the light of day sometime in the next two months, as soon as those buffoons in Grimification stop wasting money on wizard's hats and get down to fishing off their side!!!. At the moment Jinn are busy getting together new material, as well as the usual twenty second bursts of neanderthal brutality we have somehow or other managed to craft a nine minute, yes that's right NINE MINUTE, song! Bloody hell! Don't worry too much about prog rock leanings or anything like that, it's still as brutal as ever. We had to pull out
of our gig with Warhead due to illness, which was a bit disappointing,
but I'm sure it would have been a relief for the regulars at the Lord
Clyde public house!!! We still have very
limited copies of the Ebola / Jinn split in red, as well as the Jinn /
Suicide Handbook split (only ever in black!) and the Jinn / Army Of Flying
Robots split. No flyer as yet for the Nottingham Gig, however as soon as we get one we'll post it up Adam
Gleeson please get back in touch. I have tried to email you a number of
times with Pay Pal details but your in box is full and the email keeps
bouncing back. Watch out for more gigs soon! Micky 24/11/04 My email has
been working for two days in a row now... so it might be fixed.... we'll
see though! More problems
with email I'm afraid. I think I have resolved the situtaion, now, but
I will monitor it for a couple of days before I somewhat belatedly get
round to emailing details to people. I have been having huge problems with my email account over the last few weeks and I know that there are a number of you who are waiting for information back from me on pay pal and postage costs on Ebola and Jinn records. Sorry for the delay, I will will try and get back to you with the information you want in the next few days, when I have waded through the hundreds of emails I have just received today. On a more cheery
note the Jinn / Army of Flying Robots 10" is now back from the pressing
plant and we hope to get our share of the pressing in the next couple
of weeks. The record is on two colour vinyl and comes with a full colour
cover, which is reflected in the price which will be £6.50 plus
postage. Full details as soon as we have them. For all you full on Anarcho coffin dodgers out there, I have added a Blood Robots page. Who the f*ck are the Blood Robots you might well ask! Before One By One and Generic Sned and I were in a band called the Blood Robots if you want to know more click on the link to the left. We are working hard on getting the Jinn / Army Of Flying Robots split LP out, and as soon as we have any info we'll post it up. The One By One and Ebola discography's are still in the pipeline and again when we have info we'll post it up. Jorg if you
are reading this get in touch, I have been trying to get a hold of you
for ages. Sned and I, as the only two remaining members of Generic still active within the punk and HC scene, were very unhappy to find out that someone has put out a second rate bootleg of most of the old Generic stuff. Aside from the fact that they are selling this record for a premium price, it is not the limited edition it purports to be, so they are stiffing the band, the label and the people buying it who think it's one of limited press of a hundred. There are valid reasons why we have chosen not to release a Generic discography ourselves. However in an effort to stop people getting ripped off by unscrupulous business people masquerading as punks, Sned has agreed to do a cd-r of all the GENERIC stuff. This has more songs and better sound quality than the bootleg, as it is taken direct from the masters. Click the Flat Earth link or the pic of the CDr cover below for details.
For the record we suspect that the same person is also behind a number of other bootlegs of other old punk and hardcore bands. I'm sorry but I don't think that his "your copies are in the post" stance is acceptable. You can take it as read that I do not agree
to the bootlegging of any of the bands that I have ever been involved
in. The following statement more or less copied from the download site
summarises my attitude. Finally,
we have just started work on an official One By One discography which
will contain tracks that even well connected Eastern European bootleggers
don't have access to. Next in the pipeline will be an official Ebola discography.
Both of these will be copied direct from the original master tapes and
will feature as much as possible of the original artwork. Get in touch
if you are interested in being involved. You
can now buy the Ebola / Jinn and Jinn / TSH split LP's and pay with Pay
Pal. Click on the 'buying stuff' link to the left for details. Hi folks been a bit busy so no updating. Jinn played in Nottingham on Sunday the 1st of February and had great fun! We will be playing at the Mighty 1 in 12 at the End of February, but before that we will be going into the studio to record 17 tracks, some of which will go on the split LP with Army Of Flying Robots. We haven't decided what we will do with the rest of the tracks at the moment. We have copies of both the Jinn/ Suicide Handbook LP and the Ebola / Jinn LP, each of which are £5.00 plus post and packing to wherever you are in the world. Well concealed cash only. Email for postage rates. On a more nostalgic note it's great to hear
that "Common Ground" by One By One will be included on the Profane
Existence 15th Anniversary CD. Obviously while that is nice,
more importantly, it's great to see PE not only back on it's feet but
going from strength to strength. The inserts have arrived for the Ebola / Jinn split so we can now start selling them as soon as we work out the price for post and packing! We don't have any of the Jinn / Suicide Handbook LP's to sell as yet, but we should get them in the new year. We will be setting up a separate Jinn website in the next few weeks, so when that is up and running I will change the link to point to that. We hope to go into the studio in January
2004 to record 17 new songs, some of which will see the light of day as
a split 10" with The Army Of Flying Robots on The
Audacious Art Experiment, the rest will surface in some as
yet undecided format. Almost 3 years after being recorded Ebola's
final anguished screams are let loose on the world! On the other side are the equally as noisy and nasty Jinn weighing in with 12 tracks recorded by Frankie Stubbs at "CVC" which runs to just under 17 minutes. Yup that's almost 40 minutes of fast loud 'music' on one record, and with a limited pressing on red vinyl you know it makes sense to spend that £5 on this instead of going to the bar for another pint! Due to the small number we have, we will
unfortunately not be able to trade. Sorry. We will have coppies to sell at the Drop Dead gig Tomorrow night in Bradford.
Coming soon split LP with Jinn and The Suicide
Handbook also on Totenschiff. Okay the test pressings for the Ebola / Jinn split LP have been approved and it's now at the pressing plant... as soon as we have any concrete news on availability we'll put something up here. A bit of old news that we forgot to let people know about is that Jinn 7" that was going to come out on Enslaved is not now happening. Those songs and some other will make up our side of a split LP with The Suicide Handbook This will also come out on Totenschiff (Deathship) shortly after the Jinn / Ebola LP. Some how or other I happened on to a web site about women in Metal, Hardcore, Grind and Noise http://kzsu.stanford.edu/~hannah/e/ebola.html which bemoaned the fact that the Ebola site doesn't tell you who was in the band... and they are right it doesn't!!! The cunning biography section tells you who left when but that is about it... I did a load of stuff to update that part of the site but never posted it up... so I might well revamp it to include some information!!! Just for the record, Ebola was Andy I, Andy N, Chrissy, Duane, Karin, Lobster, Micky, Nick, Pete, Set, and Skater. Jinn will be playing at a benefit for the
Zapatista's at the Packhorse in Leeds on Thursday the 9th of October,
I can't access Fracture to get the details of the other bands, and I'm
so old I can barely remember my own name let alone who we are playing
with!!! Just got back from two weeks
hols in Belgium and am feeling refreshed enough to muck around with the
site a bit... sad fool that I am. Tonights activities will probably be
discarded when I look at them in the cold light of day and go yeuch! When redesigning this page
I somehow or other managed to disable the link to the download section.
Oops! I have now corrected this little error and it's back up and running
again. I will be going through the site over the next few weeks and trying
to get it all up to date and make sure all the links on the older pages
still point to the right places and that sort of stuff... Jinn will be making another rare live appearance on the 14th of March at the Packhorse in Leeds with Boxed In, Pilger, Stand and The Mingers... it will be part of a benefit weekend of events to raise money for Reason To Believe zine. After this we will be out of action while Pete has his knee rebuilt and Adam goes gallivanting off to Thailand. As I type the art work is being finished of for the Enslaved 7" and then we will be knuckling down to work on getting everything finished off with the Ebola / Jinn split LP which will be coming out on Deathship (Germany)... as soon as we finish the artwork! Jinn are writing new songs
at the moment and hope to get back into the studio at the end of the summer
so that we can annoy even more people with our tuneless racket! Jinn finaly made it into
the studio over the weekend and much noise was made! The end results will
be made public in the spring of 2003, but until then we should be putting
up some MP3's to sate your curiosity. First of all though I have to get
those DAT tapes in the post and we need to get all the art work boxed
off.... for further info click on the Jinn button to the left. If it isn't one thing it's
another... open wallet surgery to keep the car on the road, followed by
one of my RAm DiMM's dying... not had much chance to do anything on the
site other as I have been to busy sorting other stuff... moan groan. Hi folks my HD got totally trashed so I lost all my data including pictures of Jasmine, stuff I'd written, course work, e-mails, etc etc... so if you are expecting an e-mail back from either Karin or myself you'd better e-mail us again!. I now have a new much bigger HD and am beginning to get back on my feet again, though I seem to be spending an inordinate amount of time just reinstalling stuff... groan. Jinn should be out and about annoying people again in November with possible aural assault taking place in Nottingham and Bradford... more news as it happens! Still waiting on a response from Tripod about the MP3's they have quarantined... any one with any ideas for free web hosting with 60megs of space and no restriction on MP3 content get in touch! Micky 30/10/02 Okay all seems to be going well with the new site for downloads... not all the songs are up there yet so you'll have to be patient... all of the Imprecation 7" is up and some of the Incubation LP is too... the rest is on it's way. More good news. The Ebola
LP should finally be out in February/ March 2003 a mere two years after
recording! It will be released on Totenschiff as a split LP with Jinn
and feature 12 songs from each band. Jinn are booked into the studio to
record their stuff at the beginning of December. I don't f*****g believe
it, I really don't f*****g believe it. I spent all weekend uploading all
those MP3's on my poxy 56k dial up modem for Trip(e)od to have
deleted it all again. M***********g w*****s! I am transfering the download
site to a new ISP Okay at long last I have
found the time to repair the download section of the web site, all of
the links should work okay but there was a strange random error being
generated by the tripod servers... I can nor garentee that this may not
happen again. The pages are set up in such a way that they can not be
accessed without first going through the index page, so you cant just
cut and paste the URL in. Time slips slowly by and
I still haven't got round to doing all the updates to the web site. When
you have a baby you tend to only be able to work in short bursts here
and there, but eventually I will get round to finishing my overhaul
of the site. Well after getting up early
to feed Jasmine I found I could not get back to sleep so I thought I'd
take the opportunity to do some work on the site. Well okay it's been a while since I updated this but a lot of things have happened in my life since February. I started my annual round of studies with the OU (Java this time around) and then proceeded to fall ill with recurring viral infections. Karin gave birth to Jasmine our beautiful baby daughter. I dropped out of my OU studies for this year after falling so far behind... more due to illness than baby. I got a new band together with Pete and Adam from TSUA ... strangely playing fast loud and nasty music ... still looking for a singer though! I have not had the chance to re-launch the music download section of the site as I have been too busy doing my share of changing nappies, burping (no not me!) and feeding. I have managed to fit in one bit of brewing which went disastrously wrong ... I won't bore you with the details but instead of a nice Pilsner Uruquell I have an opaque 7%abv lager... still quite drinkable but something to handle with caution... 27/04/02 Okay just in case your wondering the Ebola download section has been accidentally deleted by the very apologetic folks at Tripod. We will try and get this facility up and running as soon as we can... but that may take a few weeks as I'll have to rip all the songs again and I have not got the time at present. Also the Enslaved site has been cattled by the same nice folks... 07/02/2002 Ebola are no more, the
distances between us became too great an impediment. I was trying to form
a new band with some of the Ebola folk but the restrictions my personal
commitments placed in the way mean that this is no longer a possibility. The stuff we recorded in December 2000 will not now see the light of day as a split LP with Y. We are now working on other options. Keep checking back for details . Thanks for sticking with us through thick and thin for so long, especially to those who have put us up, fed us, put us on and put up with us through the course of our checkered history! Cheers Micky 07/11/2001 Due
to internal disputes the 12 new songs which Ebola have recorded at In
a City Studios on the 2nd and 3rd of December 2000 Still not have seen
the light of day. At this present point in time the matter still has not
been resolved to everyone's satisfaction. If you want a taste of what
is to come we have put 1 track on the web site which you will be able
to download. Click here
to go to the download page... If you are stuck in someone else's dumb ass frame click here to break free! The Enslaved site is now on a different server and I would advise anyone wanting to link/bookmark to the Ebola or Enslaved sites to link/bookmark to here rather than to the respective home pages. We will be moving pages and links around on the site and creating new directories in order to make download times quicker, navigation easier, and the site easier to maintain. We will also be structuring the site so that each page has a link back to the Main Index page and to the index page for that particular part of the site. We haven't decided which icons will be used as yet so you will need to check back here regularly or else you could get hideously lost!!! This is the fourth major change this web site will have undergone in the space of twelve months. We will be experimenting with page counters as well as hit counters, and that way we hope to be able to see what exactly is popular and perhaps expand those sections...if time allows. Please bare in mind that we are only gifted amateurs who work full time, are in a band, and have other heavy commitments in addition to this (I'm doing a degree course with the Open University and Nick is running a substantial distro and label). So Progress will be slow and sporadic. Enslaved News Page (updated daily (ha ha)) with a resume of their recent activities, there are details of Ebola's tour in July 2000, the Ebola site is being updated, and the section on Full mash Brewing is has been revamped to include beer making tutorials in Flash. If that's not enough to keep you happy then I'd suggests you go out and buy "The Fall" By Albert Camus which should occupy your mind for long enough to allow us to finish this update |
